Series: New Zealand tour of India, 2023

India vs New Zealand, 3rd T20I WED, FEB 01 2023 7pm

Venue: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

Preview:
After a below-par performance by the Indian top and middle order batters, Suryakumar Yadav showed a different side to his game as he scored an unbeaten 26 runs off 31 balls as
team India chased down a target of 100 runs with only one ball remaining. Suryakumar was the only batter to cross the 20-run mark despite all the batters scoring in double figures.
It’d be interesting to see whether Prithvi Shaw gets a place in the playing 11 with openers Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan showing no signs of form.

The bowlers were incredible in the 2nd T20I as the spin department choked the Kiwi batting lineup. Arshdeep Singh picked up 2 wickets as he bowled 2 overs
in the death, while Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Hooda and Kuldeep Yadav – all managed 1 wicket each.
New Zealand batting on the other hand had a night to forget as none of the batters were able to cross the 20-run mark individually.
Captain Mitchell Santner was the top scorer, who remained unbeaten till the end after scoring 19 runs in 23 balls with a four.
The bowlers however did an incredible job while defending their lowest-ever T20I total against India. However, Michael Bracewell and
Ish Sodhi were the sole wicket-takers with 1 wicket each to their name. Glenn Phillips bowled his full quota of 4 overs and conceded just 17 runs in the process.

Pitch Report
There are six red soil pitches and five black soil pitches at the venue. Compared to red soil pitches, which have a tendency to dry out quickly and favour spinners or
slow bowlers, black soil pitches have better bounce. Overall, Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium is a favourable scoring venue for 20-over matches.
In T20Is, the average first innings score is 174, and the average second innings score is 166.
