Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals, 17th Match 12th April evening seven thirty PM
Venue: MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai
Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will be face to face at Chepauk in the 17th IPL match. CSK returned to their home venue after four years when they beat LSG in their last outing at this venue.
Both RR and CSK have won two of their three matches so far and will be eager to capitalize on their winning form. Yashaswi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler are in great touch at the top for Rajasthan Royals.
Both openers have scored 2 fifties each opening for the Royals in their last three innings. In addition, Riyan Parag and Hetmyer have also shown great promise in the lower middle order.
For CSK, Ajinkya Rahane has stepped up as a strong number 3 batting option. Rahane scored the fastest fifty of IPL 2023 in the last match against MI in Mumbai. Chahar and other pacers seem to be struggling at the moment,
but the spinners under the leadership of captain cool, MS Dhoni can make a big impact on the game.

Chennai Super Kings Preview
The 2021 champions bounced back with two back to back wins after they got off to a losing start against Gujarat Titans. Chennai’s home ground sprung a surprise when the yellow army posted a 200+ total batting first.
Such high scores aren’t common at this venue and the pitch is known to aid spinners. Moeen Ali picked 4 wickets in that game while Santner finished with 1 for 21 in his 4 overs. However,
the pacers were taken to cleaners though CSK managed to win by 12 runs.
MS Dhoni does have a challenge on his hand in terms of the pacers in his squad. Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande haven’t been in their best form. Sisanda Magala played his first IPL game against MI and picked 1 for 37.
It is the spinners, Jadja, Santner, and Moeen Ali that have been the key to success in the bowling department.
The opposition has a strong batting lineup with in-form top-order and unless Chahar and Deshpande find their rhythm, the hosts are at a risk of being dominated by the visitors.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane will be the ones to watch out for in the top 3 of this CSK batting order.
Shivam Dube could start becoming a headache for CSK if he doesn’t soon improve his strike rate. Ambati Rayudu is a reliable middle order batsman who can hit the long ball and ensure a healthy run rate.
MS Dhoni also looks in good touch and can add quick runs at the death.
Rajasthan Royals Preview
Rajasthan Royals have carried their momentum and confidence from last season when they finished as runners up. Their most successful batsman, Jos Buttler has kicked off the season with two fifties in 3 innings so far.
And his opening partner, the young Yashaswi Jaiswal has also been in great form scoring 60 off 31 in the last game and 54 off 37 in the season opener. Dhruv Jurel, who made his IPL debut this year against Punjab Kings,
has emerged as another promising young batsman for Rajasthan Royals.
On his debut, the 22-year old right-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 32 off 15 balls at number 8. RR has a powerhouse of young Indian batters who are among the top emerging talents in India.
Riyan Parag and Devdutt Padikkal are among other key batsmen to watch out for in the middle order. However, it is Buttler, Jaiswal, and Samson at the top who will be responsible to set the right platform for the
lower order to finish on a high.
R Ashwin will be the key spinner for RR at this venue. Boult has looked in fine touch with his swing bowling in the power play. Yuzvendra Chahal will also be eager to get the most out of a spin-friendly pitch at Chepauk.
Overall, Rajasthan Royals pack a strong punch in terms of squad strength and current form. They will pose a tough challenge to the hosts

The pitch looks great for batting while still assisting the spinners. It wasn’t the case in previous seasons that 200+ totals were scored in both innings of the match.
It seems like the curators are aiming at a level playing ground to allow for brilliant stroke-making. The weather will be sunny with a high of 34 degrees Celsius.
MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk will be the venue for the CSK vs RR encounter. The average 1st innings score at this ground is 157 runs. But given the current state of the pitch, a 180+ total is
