Series: Australia tour of India, 2023

Venue: Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore 1st march 2023 morning nine thirty Am

Rohit Sharma & Co have retained Border Gavaskar Trophy after winning first two Tests.
India are now just a win away from sealing World Test Championship berth.
Rohit Sharma & Co will also officially seal the World No 1 Test spot with a win in Indore.
While the squad has remained unchanged, only addition is of Jaydev Unadkat who was released for Ranji Trophy final.

2-0 up and confidence sky high, Rohit Sharma will eye two No 1 spots. A win in Indore will guarantee India the WTC Final spot. India are currently 2nd in the WTC Standings with 64.06 PCT.
Only Sri Lanka can surpass India at this stage. However, a win will confirm India’s spot. Australia need just a draw to officially seal the deal.

A win in Indore will be crucial for India to keep the momentum. The only way India can miss out on the WTC Final spot is if Australia win in both Indore and Ahmedabad while SriLanka pull
off a huge upset in NewZealand with a 2-0 win. If that happens, SriLanka will seal the 2nd spot with 61 PCT. India will be knocked out with 56 PCT.

Australia have been severely depleted. Captain Pat Cummins has returned home to attend a family health crisis. David Warner who is injured has also returned home along with Ashton Agar.
While both Agar and Warner are expected to be back for the ODI series, a decision will be taken based on Warner’s injury status.
Steve Smith will lead Australia in Indore. The good news for the team is return of Cameron Green, the all-rounder and Mitchell Starc. Both have passed their fitness tests and are available for selection.

Pitch Report
The pitch at Holkar Stadium is generally a very good batting surface. The boundaries are very small and it aids strokeplay. That is how it plays in limited overs format.
In Test matches, you can expect the same kind of surface that was on on offer in Delhi and Nagpur. The average 1st innngs total at this venue after 2 Tests is 353, which drops down to just 153 in the 4th innings.
Any team batting last on this deck wouldn’t want to chase anything over 150.
